Mani Monday Short Nails Dilemma…. I hear it often… I would love to use the wraps but my nails are too short so I don’t think they would work for me. I addressed this in my Mani Monday Short nails Dilemma Live facebook video. Every Monday at 10am, I am Live on my facebook page sharing my Mani Monday with you and included are hints, tips and advice re, application, removal, style and so much more. This week we touched on short nails. Next week we will be covering filing and the do’s and don’ts.
Mani Monday Short Nails Dilemma
As I mentioned in the video these wraps are perfect for those with short nails. In my experience my customers that have short nails fit into one of these two categories, Brittle Nails or Nail Biters and I would like to address each.
Unless you are on medication Brittle nails is usually caused by a lack of hydration and sometimes a lack of Vitamins and Minerals. The Great news is there is something you can do about this issue and I have some tips that will really help :-).
First off, hydrate! This is so important not just for your nail health but also for your overall health. It is recommended that you drink at least 2 litres of water a day and no, Tea, Coffee, Fizzy Pop etc… do not count!
Second, use cuticle oil. I have been using cuticle oil regularly since I started with Jamberry and it has made a huge difference to the new nail growth coming through.
The Cuticle pen stays in my bag or changing bag as for me that is usually what is always with me! I also have one Bottle of cuticle oil at my desk, one in my application kit bag and another by my bed! Yes, I use it that much. I have been applying mine about twice a day. My hands go through a lot daily… We are talking copious amounts of nappy changes with a baby and toddler in nappies. Around 1-2 loads of washing a day which means loading, unloading, tumble drying and then folding (sooooo much folding!) of course then that is accompanied by the putting away. Then there is the washing up (we do not have a dishwasher), the washing down of the sides and surfaces so that includes bleach, or cleaning solutions, and the list goes on. So, yes, my hands and nails go through a lot. So, I use a lot of hand cream and ensure to use cuticle oil at least 1-2 times a day.
This issue is one where I can only relay my customers feedback as I do not really bite my nails. Again my nail biting customers seem to fit into two categories. Those that no longer bite their nails as it “feels” different and so the sensation is not the same. Plus I have it on good authority that the vinyl does not “bite through” as easily. And then there are those that just do not even try as there is something on their nails and that in itself has been enough of a deterrent. I was even sent a photo from one of my customers that has suffered from a nail biting habit for many years and when I did her Jamberry Party we could not file the excess wrap as her nails were too short, it had to be clipped off using our Jamberry Nail Clippers and well, this is the photo she sent me the other day with a big note saying “I Have Nails!”
I do love it when I can solve an issue and long standing problem 🙂
Hopefully see you Live at my next Mani Monday…
